4 Tips To Be Organised for Christmas

If you're anything like us and have a family, your usual intentions is to get
ready for Christmas early (and if you're anything like us, mostly you don't lol!).
Well, this year, we've decided to get ready early, so we can avoid the last
minute gift-buying and festive-season rushing.
Here are our four top tips for being organised for Christmas:

1. We've started to have a 'gift cupboard'! Something I always imagined older people having. When I see things on sale (25 to 50% + off) I buy these and put them in the gift cupboard, which is in our bedroom, that way little fingers can't go sneaking. By doing this we always have things on hand for unexpected guests or all-round saving money on Christmas gifts.

2. Make lists! I think of myself as some kind of list expert lol. Whenever there's anything happening, I make lists. It helps to feel organised and you feel less frantic about all the things that need to be done.

3. Think about all the different types of gifts you need to cover all events. From teacher gifts to Secret Santa gifts to main gifts for immediate family and gifts for extended family (and see #2). We also like to give to the Salvation Army at this time of year, so you may like to add a charity to your list this year.

4. Whether we admit it or not, planning ahead always saves us money. So buying Christmas cards, wrapping paper and decorations AFTER Christmas is always a BIG saver. Come the following Christmas, you're fully equipped with everything at a fraction of the cost.

How To Avoid Stress This Christmas

70 days, yes just 70 days until Christmas! It's seems like yesterday it was Easter, or the beginning of the school year.

I have to admit, this year I am a little more organised (yesterday I bought the plates and napkins, see I'm onto Christmas already!). But what really makes Christmas less stressful, especially in the lead-up, is getting all those gifts organised now. Take advantage of early pre-Christmas sales and lay-by;  buy and tuck away all those gifts bit by bit. Then, when you're ready, have wrapping sessions and hide them. Simple!
Do this and the week leading up to Christmas will be one of relaxation for you - no running around like crazy trying to find that perfect gift while under pressure.  

Of course there's a whole lot more about Christmas festivities than just gifts, like food, but I'll leave that post to someone who is an expert at creating menus for Christmas day :D

Spreading the LOVE ♥

A customer recently requested a custom made baby blanket, and of course we were more than happy to oblige (if you haven't heard, we LOVE custom orders!).

Her little girl LOVES hearts. So she asked if she could have a blanket with hearts on it, ribbons-all-around in pink colours.

We fell in love with this order immediately (who doesn't LOVE hearts in pink?!)  

So, after some designing, we made this gorgeous blanket!

And this is what Jaya's mum says:

A personal review

So, I see there are a lot of blogs where people get sent goods from companies, for them to try and test and write about it on their blog. This is not one of those blogs. This is a business blog, so you can know all the behind-the-scenes gossip, and of course store news.

However I recently made a purchase that I would like to share my experience about with you. A few months ago I subscribed to Joli Natural Skincare newsletter, so I could know more about the company, and also because when you sign up you get a free product sample (hello, who doesn't like a free sample?!). I've been getting the newsletter regularly since and I have to say it's full of interesting information, special offers and even funnies to brighten my day. 
Let's talk free sample though. You can choose which free sample you'd like, I chose the Fluffy Lime Eye Cream. In the pack I also received brochures and information about their products, and about companies to be aware of who test on animals. All very interesting. I tried the eye cream and it was wonderful. I didn't have to use much; it smoothed on the delicate eye area and was fluffy. It kept that area well moisturised.

I entered their colouring competition (yes, for adults too! Joli makes adult colouring books too!). My prize was one of their Moisturising Lip Balms, a colouring book and a $15 gift voucher to use in their store. Winning! 
The lip balm is incredible. I got to choose my own combination - so I chose a Pink colour and Lolly Musk flavour - yum. It's super moisturising, which is what you want in cold winter weather (and in hot summers too I would imagine).

After all the good experience I had had with Joli, I was ready to spend my $15 gift voucher and then some. So I ordered the Whipped Cream Facial Moisturiser; Massage Oil and Fluffy Lime Eye Cream.

Overall I was really happy with everything. The packaging was what-you-see-is-what-you-get (no heavy lids or indented bottoms), simple and light - all product. With the facial moisturiser I soon learned I only needed half the amount that I would normally use of an international company's moisturiser (happy), and it thoroughly moisturises my skin. I've already spoken about the lip balm (awesome) and the eye cream (amazingly fluffy). The massage oil is perfectly scented and a great texture - we love it. 

One of the other great things about Joli is it's all natural - no harsh chemicals that seep into your blood stream - you can understand the labels - with ingredients like Apricot Kernal Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, Lime Essential Oil etc. 

I happily give Joli Natural Skincare five stars!

The teenager request

Our teenager decided that last school holidays she would make over her bed - from the sheets, doona cover to making a bedhead and adding canopy curtains. She was determined to give it a teen style that she would love. She did achieve her goal, as you can see:

She loves the look of lots of pillows and cushions. So she asked if we could make her a cushion with a large peace sign on it. So we did! She loved it. 
Since this photo she has added star fairy lights and is currently working on knitting a blue smaller cushion cover to add another cushion to the set. You have to love her design flair.

You know those ideas you have that just don't go away? Months later you're still thinking about them, but because you're busy you just don't get to making them happen? 

Well, we had one such idea. It sat for months and months, maybe even a year. Then recently we showed a sneak peek of a new product and a few customers jumped at it, asking was it 'such and such'? It unfortunately wasn't, it was our Teddy Rug-Blanky. But what they were asking for had been in our mind for a long time. 

So we decided the interest that was shown was a call to action; we got to the drawing board and worked on our idea; trialed and errored, tested and thought about logistics. Until we came up with a design that worked.

Introducing our Hooded Reversible Blanket! Perfect for camping; picnic; match day or curling up on the lounge. We love it :)
We really wanted to make this blanket work for the wearer, so we included: hand pockets - to keep your hands warm and make it easy to be wrapped up in the blanket securely; the hoodie was a given - keep that warmth from your head inside, to be extra toasty; the length - it's made to keep the average adult/teen warm without tripping over it or it being dragged on the ground. It's double thickness fleece and therefore it's fully reversible - two blankets in one! And as we always do - personalisation for that unique touch.

Kid's request

The other night one of Master Twelve's school mates had a hard time getting to sleep. No matter what he did he couldn't get to sleep. He grabbed his Blanky4me Personalised Cushion that Master Twelve had given him as a Birthday gift a few years ago, and as soon as his head hit the cushion he fell asleep! 
The next day he told Master Twelve about the ordeal, and followed up with "Blanky4me should make pillow sized ones too, so I can sleep so well every night." Others in the class (who also have a Blanky4me Personalised Cushion), agreed.

And that is how we got the idea of having this new product! Presenting our Personalised Pillowcase! As usual, you choose the colours and font - customise it to your colour scheme.

Introducing our Teddy Rug-Blanky!

While working on orders the past few weeks, we've been busy working on our new product also.
It's a multi-purpose blanky. It can be used as a playmat for baby; for baby to lay on; to lightly cover baby or toddler in the pram or stroller; and to use as a rug on the floor in the baby or toddler's bedroom. So many uses! 
As with our Personalised Blankets, our new Teddy Rug-Blanky is made from double-sided premium anti-pill polar fleece, so it's super soft and easy to snuggle into.
This cute Teddy can be personalised too!

New designs in store

As we've mentioned before, we love custom designs. Our customers have the BEST imaginations when it comes to dreaming up new designs, and we love them for it!

We have two new designs instore. The first one is our Fairyland Blanket. The customer wanted a fairy and something else, to match her niece's bedroom. So after some discussion, the end product was a beautiful Fairyland Blanket. It's available in baby and kids sizes.

The next design is our new Twins Blankets. A customer wanted to gift two blankets to twins, so she wanted something that represented that each one belonged to a pair. She had the idea of jumpsuits and we fine tuned it to this design. These are single layer fleece. We also have them in our double sided baby blankys with ribbons on the bottom. We now have a Twins Plus category on our website.

Behind the scenes news

It's like Christmas, or our Birthday, or both rolled into one.

Behind the scenes at Blanky4me we've been working tirelessly the past few weeks, making orders as well as working on a new website, new designs AND a new product! We're very excited, as we're almost there! Almost ready to reveal all to our customers, readers and fans!

We look forward to our new website which is more customer friendly; our new designs, thanks to customer requests for something extra special; and a new product that we've had in our head for about a month now!
